Covid-19 (Coronavirus) and attending a TCM practitioner for treatment

We realise that it is important for your health for you to be able to continue to receive the Acupuncture treatment or other TCM treatment that you normally receive.

According to their individual circumstances and the conditions in their clinics, many members of the PRTCM will continue in practice during the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, if it is safe and practicable to do so.

Obviously, your TCM practitioner also wants to ensure that they are not increasing your risk of exposure to the Coronavirus. The Professional Register of Traditional Chinese Medicine has issued some specific Health and Safety guidelines to its members which they will follow during this time, although the advice and guidelines may change if the need arises.

Acupuncture-Moxibustion treatment requires face-to-face contact between the practitioner and the client, and your Acupuncturist will only see you if you have a pre-arranged appointment.

If he or she is unwell and showing any of the signs of Coronavirus infection they will NOT see you but instead will arrange for a locum to run the clinic on their behalf so that you do not miss the benefits of regular treatment.

If, on the other hand, you are a client and have any of the main symptoms of the virus you must not attend for your appointment. You should cancel the treatment session and follow government guidelines so that you do not put other people’s health in danger

Your practitioner may also contact you by phone the day before your appointment to check that you are free of any viral symptoms. If you have any of these your appointment will be cancelled. However, the practitioner will be happy to see you again, by appointment, once you are symptom free for the required amount of time.

If you are attending a Chinese HERBAL Medicine practitioner, he or she may arrange to see you for a video consultation and will then post out to you the required herbal medicine prescription.

If you have any questions you should phone or email your individual practitioner.
