In order to become members of the PRTCM applicants must have gained a qualification in Traditional Chinese Medicine which includes not only in-depth theoretical understanding of Chinese Medicine but also hands-on supervised Clinical Training. Members of the PRTCM are also required to have full professional indemnity insurance before they set up in practice and are bound by the the Code of Ethics and Code of Practice of the PRTCM.
Our new Chinese Medicine Practitioners all qualified with a Licentiate in TCM from the Irish College of Traditional Chinese Medicine during 2024, and are setting up Chinese Medical Acupuncture practices across the island of Ireland, including Dublin City, North County Dublin, Northern Ireland, and counties Kildare, Kilkenny and Louth.
The training they have completed, over a period of 3 years, enables them to make a diagnosis according to the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) using diagnostic methods such as Asking, Looking, and Listening Diagnosis, Tongue Diagnosis and Pulse Diagnosis, and to treat accordingly, using appropriate TCM treatment methods. The treatment methods include Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Cupping and, as qualified practitioners of Chinese Medicine, our members can also, if required, provide Chinese Medical Dietary therapy and lifestyle advice to their clients to support the ongoing treatment.
You can find out more about Traditional Chinese Medicine and the treatment methods used on the PRTCM website. In the hands of a fully qualified and insured practitioner, Acupuncture and other TCM treatment methods can be safely used alongside Western Medical treatment.
If you wish to contact a PRTCM Member to arrange treatment look at this post on how to make an appointment.
