A group of qualified TCM practitioners - March 2026
When choosing a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, it is important to know that they have received comprehensive professional training and are committed to maintaining high standards of practice.
To become a member of the PRTCM, practitioners must hold a recognised qualification in Traditional Chinese Medicine, that includes both extensive academic study and supervised clinical training. This ensures that practitioners have not only learned the theory of Chinese Medicine but have also developed practical clinical skills through hands-on experience treating patients under professional supervision.
In addition, all PRTCM members are required to hold professional indemnity insurance and to adhere to the organisation's Code of Ethics and Code of Practice. These requirements help ensure that patients receive treatment from practitioners who are highly trained, insured, and accountable to professional standards.
We are delighted to welcome a new group of practitioners, who recently completed their Licentiate in TCM at the Irish College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Following three years of intensive study and clinical training, they are now establishing their own practices.
Their training enables them to use a range of TCM treatment methods.
These include:
Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a holistic approach to health and wellbeing. Qualified practitioners are trained to support patients using a combination of these methods where appropriate.
When provided by a fully qualified practitioner, TCM treatments such as Acupuncture can be used safely alongside conventional medical care.
